Salve Regina University’s Seahawk Radio held elections for their new executive board for the upcoming academic year this past week. During these elections, Seahawk Radio gained a new promotions director. The full executive board is as follows:
President: Isabelle Gillibrand, 2020
Vice President of Live Events: Christina MacArthur, 2020
Vice President of Radio: Sara Birse, 2020
Treasurer: Joseph Morelli, 2021
Promotions Director: Josh Jeudy, 2021
Seahawk Radio is one of Salve Regina University’s most popular and relied on organizations on campus as they continue to provide services for and are involved with a variety of popular events, including the football games, SalveTHON, and events hosted by the Office of Student Activities along with Admissions. Because of this, strong leadership is trend in Seahawk Radio. Members of the new executive board, also known as the E-Board, are a mix of students that successfully served the leadership positions before or are dedicated club members.
Seahawk Radio spent the past year focusing on internal club development. Re-branding from WSRU to Seahawk Radio has taken off with a new logo for the organization, purchasing and developing new station IDs, and creating merchandise. A significant amount of time has been put towards investigating how to improve and expand the organization in the college radio field. The organization made the decision to transition to the college radio platform, RadioFX, to include some more features to student disc jockeys with the goal of being a more accessible platform overall.
With this year being focused on internal development, the goal next year is growth for the organization. For the remainder of this academic year, the E-Board will focus on housekeeping business, and preparing for the upcoming academic year. For the 2019-2020 academic year, Seahawk Radio is brainstorming how they want to launch the exciting developments made to the station, along with a large-scale campus event for the spring semester. With the majority of the executive board being returners and having experience in event planning, there are exciting ideas in the works.
Seahawk Radio wants to thank everyone that helped them and had them out for live events throughout this year, and is looking forward to working as a new executive board to showcase the new improvements of Seahawk Radio.
